1st Poetry & Presents Event = Major Success...Where Should We Begin?

Wow!! I had a chance to recuperate from an amazing evening on Friday. It was hard work but truly worth every minute of it.

Where should I begin…hmmm maybe I could start with all 15 phenomenal poets that came from as far as New York to pour out their heart and soul to an amazing crowd of men and women. Or should I start with our gracious host Mina Holladay who was in her element once she graced us with her presence. Or better yet, maybe I’ll start with the best girls any one could have, my loving BOND Sisters who worked hard right alongside me to ensure that this event was a major success.   Or I could easily start with the number of supportive sponsors who unselfishly gave in order for us to create a wonderful evening. Let’s not forget Rashada Pullen, a remarkable painter whom we watched transform an empty canvas into a beautiful masterpiece.  If I mention her, I must also mention, DJ Cebo who was always on point. Playing the right tunes, just at the right time.  Or I could easily mention the surprise proposal that stunned a new bride to be and brought tears to the eyes of many.  Or how about those amazing photographers (Franklin Withers Photography and Yokography) that captured moments that won’t do us any justice with just words.

No, no, no I know just where to begin; I’ll start with the 170 plus folks that literally packed out the house. Many came from all over to show their support to a cause greater than themselves.  The decorations set the mood, the poets were remarkable, the music was on point but the love and support of so many was PRICELESS.  

Of course there were some things that we could have done differently and yes there were a few glitches in our elaborate plans but such is life. The overwhelming number of positive feedback and kudos BOND Inc received outweighed those few glitches.   For this being our very first poetry event, many are well pleased with the outcome.

I appreciate each and every one of you who came or desired to come. I’m grateful to all of those who gave their time, talents, money or otherwise. Because of what you gave and the support you’ve shown Sarah’s House will never be the same.

Until next time… oh yes you better believe there will be a next time but with a different venue and menu of course!!! The act of giving will however remain the same.

This has been a pretty busy year for BOND Inc and with yet another year drawing to an end, we have so much to be thankful for. On behalf of the lovely ladies of BOND we simple want to express our sincerest gratitude for your support during this year and the years past. From the various hosted events to our online presences our faithful supporters continue to remain by our side. We appreciate you for allowing us to invade your personal space, take-up your precious time, take over your Facebook page or bother you with our emails. Whether you supported us since our earlier days or just within the past few weeks, the mere fact that you thought enough of us means the world to us. Thanks for sharing us with others. Thanks for every person you brought along with you.  Thanks for every email sent or forwarded. Thanks for every RSVP. Thanks for every ticket purchased. THANK YOU, THANK YOU and THANK YOU once again!!! We are always here to uplift, motivate and empower you to reach your highest potential.

BOND Inc is working diligently to provide you with a very memorable event. Ticket sales are growing by the day and won’t be available too much longer.  Tickets are selling $12 or 2 for $20. Poetry and Presents will be held at the Owen Brown Center located at 6800 Cradlerock Way Columbia, MD. Doors open at 730pm. Our gracious host will be none other than Mina Holladay. Expect a full house. Expect a number of talented poets and spoken word performers from all over.  (Full list coming soon, stay tuned) Expect to hear light jazz and neo-soul from Baltimore’s own, DJ Cebo. Expect to mix, mingle and network with some of the finest men and women from all around. Expect tasty hors d'oeuvres, lights and cameras flashing, and a great atmosphere. Better yet just expect the unexpected because BOND Inc has a lot of great things up our sleeve. Our list continues to grow with ideas because I want our guest to have a great time all while supporting a great cause.

January Gathering “Playing By the Rules” Special Guest Speaker

BOND Inc’s Membership is Blowing Up

BOND Inc Unveils the Poetry and Presents Special Guest Host

It brings us great pleasure to unveil our special guest host for the "Poetry & Presents". 

Mina Holladay (pronounced: me-nuh) is well known in many social networks on and off line as a hostess/emcee for poetry events in Miami, DC, MD and VA. This powerhouse was born to a Korean mother and Bahamian father in El Paso, Texas in the late 70's. As a military brat, Mina found herself in a different school every 2 years until the age of 13; an adventure that would afford her the ability to speak German while broadening her perspective of the world.

Though Mina learned the only thing constant is change she found stillness/peace in her creative abilities, her strong communication skills and her "old soul". No matter the situation she was always able to provide creative insight and in most cases, sketch, design, crochet, knit, and write an idea to life. She gave what little she had, and simply enjoyed the spoils of giving; she knew where the joy button was and delighted in pushing it.

Mina had chosen a life of predictability for many years, shunning anything creative as it reminded her of the sadness of her childhood. Unhappy, she eventually found herself unemployed and homeless. While couch surfing at a friend's, house she picked up her pen and a used notebook and began re-honing her creative skills. Beautiful, raw details of a voided past spilled on those worn pages and an artist was reborn.

Mina Holladay currently resides in the nation's capital as CEO of up-and-coming world news magazine; SoapboxX, a motivational speaker, a soon-to-be-published author of "minaisms", a branding/PR coach, a poet/activist, model and graphic designer. She lives fearlessly, fully self-aware and is in constant pursuit of happiness.

Minaisms is the title of her up and coming book that’s  filled with poetry, art, and affirmations that are born during the course of her healing process. Minaisms is also derived from scenarios that she encounters daily as she is often inspired by others. “Feeling better about what happens to you is truly the key to happiness”, says Mina. “My journey has been tough but having weathered it to where I am today.... it's too joyous to keep to myself."
