February Meet & Greet- Grab Your Seat

For the past few weeks we've dropped hints about our annual Meet & Greet. Now that we've solidified a date and location, let the excitement begin! There's much to celebrate. For starters, how about celebrating 10 years of committed service, or our newest re-launch? What about many of our new initiatives? There's so much more.   We're expecting to see a lot of new and familiar faces to join us on that evening. We've reached out to our charter members who were there in the early days of BOND and helped push us to where we are now, beloved board members, our new members, and those interested in joining the BOND Sisterhood. You'll be able to mix and mingle with some of our BOND Business partners, past guest speakers, Spotlight Features, and you, our greatest supporters. Learn more about who we are, what we're about, ask us some of your burning questions and be apart of the celebration. We're expecting a grand time and want you to be there with us.

RSVP so that your name appears on the guest list. You'll be kept abreast to all the details leading up to the day. The event is FREE of charge but we're asking that you RSVP in advance to ensure we have enough materials, food and swag bags for our guest.

See you there!

Meet Our President- Nayvette Fowlkes

Nayvette G. Fowlkes is the Founder and President of Bringing On New Direction (BOND) Inc., a well-known and much-admired organization serving the Baltimore/Washington, DC metropolitan area and surrounding cities. Since its launch in 2004, BOND has been dedicated to inspiring and empowering women of color to reach their highest potential by providing support and resources to its members and to the communities where they live.
Ms. Fowlkes roots lie in Maryland where she received her primary and secondary education in the Anne Arundel County public school system. She later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Morgan State University, followed by a Master of Science degree in Instructional Technology from Texas A&M.

Ms. Fowlkes founded BOND soon after graduating from Morgan State University. The genesis for her vision began when she was only 13 years old. As the daughter of a Pentecostal preacher, she has always been deeply religious, and at the time she felt spiritually prompted to start on this path. Her dream of starting a group to benefit women gradually took shape, and her direction became progressively clear. She believes that the full roadmap to life is never obvious, but that each sign along the way gives you spiritual guidance.

A pivotal point for Ms. Fowlkes was the message that her college commencement speaker, Bishop Vashti McKenzie, delivered as she challenged her graduating class to move forward and to do great things. This message that was further validated by an inspirational sermon presented by a guest speaker at her church as he recounted the Old Testament bible story of Joseph. She knew intuitively that it was her time to act.

She gathered 20 of her closest friends and co-workers in her small one bedroom apartment to convene BOND Inc.’s first “interest” meeting. By nightfall, all 20 had pledged their commitment to BOND’s mission.

Ms. Fowlkes continues to be tireless in her efforts to empower women in the many areas of their lives. She enjoys and is involved in all aspects of BOND’s operations, from organizing workshops and events to marketing, raising money for charitable projects, volunteering and engaging professional networking. It is her goal to expand the reach of BOND far enough so that no woman who strives to improve her life is left behind.

The Last Newsletter Edition for 2014. Its Jammed Packed!!

What a world wind of a year. I don’t know about you but it sure does feel like I was writing an “end of the year” message just a few months ago. This year went by super fast- a great year nonetheless. While, I’m grateful for a fabulous 2014, I’m even more excited for what 2015 has in store for us as an organization.

If you’ve been following us for the past few months I’ve been sharing with our followers our 2015 Strategic Planning initiative. BOND’s amazing board have been working diligently with a major revamp of BOND Inc. Each board has volunteered to chair BOND’s committees. I challenged them to think of fun and creative ways as they lead their respective committees. I charged them to think of their committees as their own personal organizations and they have free reign to lead it. The only stipulations I gave them was... click here to continue reading

2014 Mother's Day Contest Winner Is...

Thank you to all of those who've submitted nominations for the Mother's Day contest. We appreciate all of the entries however BOND's Board of Directors could only chose one. So without further ado we present to you the nomination story.

Hello,
I am Destiny Johnson. I would like to nominate my mother, Natasha Perry.
My mother deserves the Msprity's Pampering Mom Spa Package because during this past year, she hasn't taken the time out to focus on making herself happy. I look up to my mother's strong and outspoken views. I love my mother's drive and determination to help everyone who is around her. She has a deep found interest in helping the youth of the community. My mother is a single mother of two. She works hard to make sure that me and my sister are able to get the best of everything. Around March of last year, she finally bought her own house. After about a month, we began to experience major problems with the house. At that time my mother was working from home and attending on grad school. It seemed as if her whole world came crashing down when she bought the house. Due to those major problems, she had to shell out almost all of her savings. Not to mention that her job of almost 5 years laid her off. During this hard time, I never saw my mother give up. She kept pushing and kept her head up. Currently, she is still unemployed but manages to still pay the bills and my school tuition.

Natasha is now working on her Bachelors degree in Family Studies. She was the first in the family to earn a college degree. I am very proud of my mother and I would love to be able to show her my appreciation with this Spa Day! I know for a fact that this Mother's Day will be well-deserved for such a strong woman.

Sincerely,
Her daughter.
Destiny Johnson

The winner of BOND's 2014 Mother's Day Contest goes to Natasha Perry!!!Such a sweet letter from her daughter don't you think. Congratulations Natasha. We are excited to present you with the spa package compliments of Msprity Enterprise. We will be contacting you soon for further details.
