That Darn Oprah...She's Done It Again

Did you see this? Did you hear about it? Well as I was perusing through Facebook checking messages and sending out some announcements, I came across a rather short yet one of the most powerful videos I’ve seen in quite some time. You know I had to watch the video because the discussion was centered on a subject near and dear to my heart. Women getting along. Not to mention, the video had two of my favorite people, Iyanla Vanzant and Oprah Winfrey in it. So you know I couldn’t just bypass it right?

In the video, Iyanla shares with the audience, “5 Reasons Women Betray Each Other”. In the midst of Iyanla going through the various reasons, my girl Oprah chimes in and hits the nail on the head with this very powerful statement here ...

"If you want to know the difference between a truly successful woman and one that is just trying to be..."Truly successful; powerful people want other people to be empowered".

 

Did she step all in BOND’s business or what? This is the very principle that BOND Inc continues to drive to home since day one. We don't take our name lightly; hence the name Bringing On New Direction nor do we our mission; which is to uplift, motivate and empower women to reach their highest potential. Our very existence is to support women of color in any way we possibly can.

We Are Just So Sad!!! We Can't Seem To Sit Still

We're so sad. Just another reason why BOND Inc can't seem to stay still. Honey child, we are taking this show on the road to Tampa Florida!!!

 

Yep you read that right. FLORIDA!!! This trip will be one to remember. This will be a great time for women of color from all walks of life, from different parts of the country, social statuses and backgrounds to come together and BOND. This trip will make us better friends, better wives, better sisters, better co-workers and so much more. We desperately need this type of getaway and we promise you, you will be better for it.

There are plenty of topics BOND could choose from for our next BOND Gathering. We Roared Loud…Together!!!

Not to rub it in but if you didn’t attend the BOND Girl 2012 Meet & Greet/I Am Woman Hear Me Roar Gathering, my, my, my you missed a great treat. We had such a great time and there was so much love and support pouring in the room that many are still beaming. Women from all around DC, Maryland and Virginia and from a variety of backgrounds attended Friday’s Gathering with the sole purpose of roaring. Who knew that the roar would be so in sync and in such unison that a touching harmony was formed? The feeling of being amongst women who understood your struggles, could fill in your blanks when you didn’t have the right words to express, one who shed the same tears you shed was just absolutely moving. Committee Members Needed

In preparation for the 8^th year Anniversary in November and our 2^nd Annual Poetry & Presents fundraising event in December, BOND is seeking volunteers to be apart of the Event Planning Committee. As a member of the team you will have the opportunity to take part in two of BOND’s most successful and much anticipated events. This is also a fun and exciting way to network with prominent business owners and organizations from in and around the community. April 20th BOND Gathering Overview: We Roared Loud Together!!!

Not to rub it in but if you didn’t attend the BOND Girl 2012 Meet & Greet/I Am Woman Hear Me Roar Gathering, my, my, my you missed a great treat.  We had such a great time and there was so much love and support pouring in the room that many are still beaming. Women from all around DC, Maryland and Virginia and from a variety of backgrounds attended Friday’s Gathering with the sole purpose of roaring. Who knew that the roar would be so in sync and in such unison that a touching harmony was formed.  The feeling of being amongst women who understood your struggles, could fill in your blanks when you didn’t have the right words to express, one who shed the same tears you shed was just absolutely moving.

During the first half of the evening, BOND shared an in-depth view of the organization. We provided guest with the organization’s mission and purpose, history, member benefits and the way ahead. In addition, a few members shared their own personal testimonies of how and why they’ve joined the thriving organization. Guests were provided with packets of information for their reading pleasure.  There was also a question and answer session and the opportunity to share ideas that would greatly benefit the organization.

The last half of the evening was spent with an open and honest discussion of being black and female in America. Not to give it all away because you would have had to have been there to really understand.  As promised we ensured that the environment was just right to share whatever was on another’s heart and shared we did. We cried, we hugged, we laughed, we fellowshipped, we opened up, we loved, we were honest, we roared and we roared loud…TOGETHER! We roared so loud that we woke our ancestors out of a deep sleep. We got their attention and I have a feeling that they were smiling down on us. The roar was so loud that it will be heard for years to come. The atmosphere was so very special that if we could grab hold of it in a bottle to sell, we would.  It was just that PRICELESS.
